Philosophy
Today, our firm can look
with pride at a roster of clients which range from individuals and privately-owned
businesses to major financial institutions and multi-national corporations.
Other lawyers and law firms often pay us the ultimate compliment of retaining
our services for their clients. We do not believe that every matter requires
a large firm, cadres of lawyers or bureaucracy. Rather, ability, experience,
service and direct accountability are the components of effective legal
representation. We look forward to the opportunity to prove to you that
these are not mere words; that both you and we will derive mutual satisfaction
from the services we render for you.
We will not accept a matter
unless we are certain we can service it efficiently and effectively. Every
client is important to our firm and is treated accordingly. Potential
conflicts of interest are promptly disclosed and frankly discussed. Matters
are staffed at levels consistent with our goals of quality and economy.
We do not assign two lawyers to do the job of one. We do not generate
masses of unnecessary paperwork. A partner is assigned to supervise each
client's matters and is available to confer with that client regarding
the handling of those matters.
Most of our engagements
are preceded by a conference at which client needs are carefully identified
and realistic goals and fees for our representation are discussed and
determined. The nature of our undertaking is set forth in a retainer agreement,
which contains an explanation of our customary billing rates and charges.
A partner is assigned personal responsibility for ensuring that the client's
matters are promptly handled, appropriately staffed and fairly billed.
We make every effort to foster informed client participation by periodic
assessments of our progress toward accomplishing the defined goals of
our representation. We encourage clients to maintain close contact with
our firm through the candid and constructive interchange of ideas and
information. We litigate in the federal and state courts and all arbitration
tribunals, as well as before various administrative, regulatory and self-regulatory
bodies, not only in New York but also throughout the United States, for
domestic and international clients. A brochure can give little more than
an overview of lawyers and their firm. Because we believe that the most
valuable asset of Maya & Associates, P.C. is its lawyers, we invite you
to meet with us.
We recognize that a firm is as strong as each of
its parts. We believe that intelligent use of technology allows us to
provide better service to our clients and can significantly reduce their
legal expenses.
